Earthquake in China

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck China's Jiuzhaigou County located in the southwestern province of Sichuan in China on 08 August. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake hit at a depth of 20km.

More than 38,000 tourists were visiting the remote, mountainous Jiuzhaigou county when the earthquake struck. 19 people were reported to be killed and over 200 people were severely injured.

The military was deployed to provide relief and support to the affected people, with electricity being restored within hours.
