トンガのサイクロンギタ

ギタと名付けられたカテゴリー4のサイクロンが2月12日、トンガを襲い近隣のサモア島で広範囲にわたる被害が出ました。

トンガでも人気リゾートであるトンガタプ島を台風の目が通り過ぎ、1名が死亡、33人が怪我をしたとのことです。

国立緊急対策局（NEMO）の報告によると、人口の79％に影響があり、ギタは史上最も強いサイクロンに登録されました。

トンガ政府の非常事態宣言により100箇所以上の非難センターが用意され、4500戸以上の住民が避難を強いられています。

ギタによって低地で起こった洪水がサバイイ、ウポル川沿岸と川沿いの地域、及びベサイガーノ地域に流れ込み、数千にも及ぶ国の文化財が被害に合う事態となりました。

専門家によるとこのサイクロンにより強風が190km/時に達するとトンガタプでは電力が切れ、交通網が止まり、

また病院では発電機による最低限のオペレーションしか行うことができなかったとのことです。

2月15日までにはサイクロンは南南西にそれ、トンガからニューカレドニアに進路を変える予想です。
