Storm Éowyn in the United Kingdom

Storm Éowyn is forecast to affect the United Kingdom on 24 January. Scotland is expected to be particularly affected, with heavy rain, snow, and strong winds.

A red weather alert for the powerful winds has been issued for Scotland from 10:00 to 17:00 UTC while the storm is forecast to cross east across the country. Winds as strong as 100 mph are forecast in some coastal areas, posing a risk to life.

An amber weather alert is in place for the rest of the day in all areas of Scotland. The Met Office has warned people to avoid all but essential travel and for those in at risk areas to remain indoors due to the danger posed by debris caught in the storm.
