Storm Éowyn in the United Kingdom

Storm Éowyn, a powerful and record-breaking extratropical cyclone, impacted the United Kingdom on 24 January 2025, with Scotland experiencing the most severe effects. The storm brought a combination of heavy rainfall, snowfall, and exceptionally strong winds.

In response to the storm's intensity, the UK Met Office issued a red weather warning for high winds across parts of Scotland, effective from 10:00 to 17:00 UTC. Gusts of up to 100 mph were forecast in some coastal areas, presenting a significant risk to life.

An amber weather warning remained in effect for the rest of the day, covering all regions of Scotland. Authorities strongly advised the public to avoid all non-essential travel and urged residents in high-risk areas to remain indoors, due to the danger posed by airborne debris caught in the storm.
