Flood in Argentina
A major storm system dumped approximately 170 mm of rain across Tucumán Province, Argentina.
Flooding has overwhelmed local infrastructure and inundated homes. The intense rainfall toppled trees, caused rivers to burst their banks, and pushed groundwater levels beyond capacity. Entire vehicles were submerged, and many roads became impassable for residents.
Dozens of people have been evacuated, and the provincial government has suspended all school activities.
Rescue operations and public‑health prevention measures are currently underway to manage saturated water tables and severely overwhelmed drainage systems.
The province had already been receiving roughly 800 mm of rain per month since December—about 70% of its annual rainfall each month, leaving the ground unable to absorb additional water.
