Flood in Argentina
A major storm system brought around 170 mm of rain to Tucumán Province, Argentina, causing widespread flooding and overwhelming local infrastructure.
Homes were inundated, trees were uprooted, rivers burst their banks, and groundwater levels exceeded capacity. Vehicles were submerged, and many roads became impassable.
Dozens of residents were evacuated, and the provincial government suspended all school activities. Rescue efforts and public health measures were carried out to address saturated ground conditions and overwhelmed drainage systems.
The flooding followed months of exceptionally heavy rainfall. Since December, the province had received roughly 800 mm of rain per month—around 70% of its average annual rainfall each month—leaving the ground unable to absorb further precipitation.
