Flood in United Kingdom

The storm that hit the UK, including Scotland, north Wales and the east coast of England on the 05 and 06 December resulted in the most serious tidal surge in over 60 years.

The east coast of England tidal surge saw around 1,400 properties flooded and resulted in record sea levels in a number of locations. In places they were higher than those seen during the destructive floods of January 1953. The impact on those flooded is devastating.

The Environment Agency issued over 160,000 warnings to homes and businesses giving people vital time to take action to reduce the impact of the flooding. As the storms peaked over 2,800 kilometres of flood walls, banks and other flood risk management systems along the English coast and estuaries protected more than 800,000 properties from flooding.
