Flood in Sudan

Sudan is facing widespread flooding that has worsened the humanitarian situation in several states.

In River Nile State, flash floods killed four people, including two children. In the east, the Baraka River overflowed, cutting off Tokar after flooding key roads to Port Sudan. Emergency teams managed to divert the waters before they reached residential areas.

Nationwide, more than 300,000 people have been affected, over 100,000 displaced, dozens killed, and nearly 27,000 homes destroyed. Humanitarian partners are scaling up their response, while the reopening of the Adre border crossing from Chad into Darfur has provided a key route for delivering aid to millions in need.
