Tropical Cyclone Wipha in the Philippines
Tropical Cyclone Wipha passed through the Luzon Strait, between northern Philippines and southern Taiwan, on 18 July.
On Tuesday (22 July), heavy flooding inundated the Philippine capital, Manila, forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate and prompting the closure of schools and government offices.
Six people have died, and six others remain missing.
Wipha continued westward, making its first landfall in southern China’s Guangdong province on 20 July, before affecting parts of Laos and Vietnam between 20 and 22 July.
