Earthquake in Philippines

On 8 June 2026, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the Mindanao region of the southern Philippines near General Santos City and Sarangani Province. The shallow earthquake caused severe ground shaking, resulting in damage to buildings, infrastructure, and power networks, as well as casualties and injuries. Emergency response operations are ongoing, with aftershocks continuing to affect the region and damage assessments still underway.

The Philippines is located within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a highly active tectonic zone that experiences frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.
