Typhoon Noru in Laos

Typhoon Noru made landfall  in the southern Attapeu province, Laos as a downgraded tropical storm and caused heavy flooding in southern Laos' Attapeu province.

A large number of people were affected by the storm, 300 houses were believed to have been flooded in the Sanxay district of Attapeu. At least 2,000 people took refuge in shelters and moved away from rivers which were potentially going to flood.

Flooding damaged irrigation systems, schools, power lines, healthcare facilities, roads and other infrastructure. The Lao authorities urged all dams around the country to be closely monitored and prepare an emergency plan, especially for those whose reservoirs were nearly full.
