Flood in Venezuela

Prolonged rainfall led to flooding and landslides across several areas of western Venezuela, displacing more than 4,000 people and prompting the government to declare a national emergency.

The National Risk Management System (SNGR) activated emergency protocols in multiple affected municipalities, including Pueblo Llano, Cardenal Quintero, Miranda, Rangel, Acarigua, Santos Marquina, Libertador, Campo Elías, Arzobispo Chacón, and Alberto Adriani.

Officials reported extensive road damage in various locations, with landslides, river overflows, and washed-out sections of roadway disrupting transportation. Civil Protection teams were deployed to affected areas, where they provided assistance and coordinated response efforts.

Access to the states of Barinas and Trujillo remained limited due to damage along Trunk Roads 001 and 007. Repair crews worked to restore access and stabilize affected routes.

No fatalities were reported, and authorities credited timely emergency response measures with preventing further loss of life.
