Landslide in Kyrgyzstan

In Early May 2026, intense rainfall triggered flooding, mudflows, and landslides across several regions of Kyrgyzstan, particularly in Osh and Jalal-Abad oblasts. The events damaged homes, public infrastructure, agricultural land, schools, and medical facilities, with more than 400 homes reported affected. Additional heavy rainfall on 24–25 May worsened conditions in already impacted areas.

Emergency response operations were carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, with humanitarian assistance provided to affected communities. The event underscores Kyrgyzstan's high vulnerability to rainfall-induced landslides and debris flows due to its mountainous terrain and seasonal weather patterns.
