Tropical Cyclone Kajiki in Vietnam
Tropical Cyclone Kajiki struck central and north-central Vietnam with winds up to 133 km/h, damaging more than 7,000 homes and flooding 16,000 hectares of farmland. At least three people were killed and several others injured.
The storm toppled hundreds of power poles, caused widespread outages, and isolated many communities. Flooding affected Hanoi and multiple provinces, while landslides, storm surges, and waves up to four meters hit coastal and island areas. Despite airport closures and mass evacuations that limited casualties, Kajiki caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and agriculture. The cyclone also affected Laos, where heavy rains led to flooding, landslides, and crop losses along the Mekong basin.
