Flood in Sudan
Sudan faced widespread flooding that worsened the humanitarian situation in several states. In River Nile State, flash floods killed four people, including two children. In the east, the Baraka River overflowed, cutting off Tokar after flooding key roads to Port Sudan. Emergency teams managed to divert the waters before they reached residential areas.
Across the country, more than 300,000 people were affected, over 100,000 were displaced, dozens were killed, and nearly 27,000 homes were destroyed. Humanitarian partners scaled up their response, and the reopening of the Adre border crossing from Chad into Darfur provided a key route for delivering aid to millions in need.
