Guatemala's Fuego volcano has erupted, covering villages in volcanic ash and debris during its most powerful eruption in over 100 years. Local reports confirm at least 69 people have been killed with many more still missing.

A large forest fire broke out in a mountainous area of northern China after a spell of prolonged high temperatures and dry conditions. Fires in the Daxing'anling prefecture, Inner Mongolia spread to over 5,000 hectares.

Cyclone Mekunu made landfall on the southern Arabian peninsula, bringing sustained rainfall and winds - equal to a Category 3 hurricane - to the eastern mainland of Yemen. Local reports suggest at least 7 people have died and 8 remain missing.

Monsoon rains in Sri Lanka have killed up to eight people, with hundreds more people requiring rescue by the armed forces. Eight districts have been affected as up to 150mm of rain fell across the country.

Tropical cyclone Sagar caused flash floods across Djibouti, with the worst hit areas being Djibouti City and the suburb of Balbala. Authorities have already reported that up to 30,000 people have been impacted by the storm.
