Flood in Vietnam

Vietnam is making provisions as Typhoon Bebinca is set to make landfall on 17 August. Vietnam's defense ministry has begun the mobilization of more than 500,000 people, including soldiers, police force and civilian volunteers, to be ready to help residents in storm affected areas.

Border and coast guards from Quang Ninh down to Quang Binh Province have ordered a mass evacuation of fishing boats, fish cages and watch towers to safer areas. Thousands of vehicles and a number of boats are also preparing to evacuate residents in case of emergency.

Weather experts have predicted wind speeds of up to 90 kph, and up to 300mm of rain over the coming days.

Flooding has been warned in the delta area, and landslides and erosion in the northern highlands.
