Flood and landslide in Brazil

Heavy rainfall in Brazil has caused landslides and floods in the city of Petrópolis.

The area received 260 mm worth of rain in six hours (approximately what it would receive in a normal month), and this caused flash floods. Petrópolis is located in the Fluminense Mountains, and flood waters and mud swept down neighbourhoods by hills, destroying homes and burying streets in mud and debris.

Rescue efforts are underway and have so far accounted for almost 100 casualties, though 24 have also been rescued.
