Dam collapse in Brazil

A dam in the south-eastern town of Brumadinho collapsed killing 58 people. 300 more are missing with rescue efforts underway in the search for survivors.

As the dam collapsed a large volume of sludge buried the sites cafeteria where workers were eating, nearby homes and vehicles were also submerged. In some areas the mud is almost 50ft deep.

The reason for the burst dam is not yet known. Brazil's largest mining company which owns the dam said 305 employees were still missing and 192 have been rescued.

Search teams are continuing to look for survivors using helicopters and digging machinery.
