Description of the event

When Hurricane Irma struck Haiti's northern coast on the night of 07 September; it triggered torrential rain, which resulted in heavy flooding. Consequently, some homes were submerged under 12inches of water and only a few casualties were reported by the local officials.

Local authorities were not prepared for this catastrophic event, hence Haitians were left to face Hurricane Irma alone with no rescue mission in place. However, Irma caused less damage than expected in this beleaguered country.
