Description of the event

At least 215 people were killed when a powerful earthquake struck an impoverished valley in southwestern Pakistan. The 6.4 magnitude quake hit a montainous area of Balochistan province before dawn on Wednesday 29 October, demolishing an estimated 2,000 homes in several villages. Officials say that an estimated 15,000 people made homeless.
