Flood in Central African Republic
Heavy rains have persisted across Central African Republic since 21 October causing widespread flooding that has destroyed more than 10,000 homes. 57,000 people have been impacted and the government have declared a state of emergency.
The flooding in the capital city Bangui is so severe the only way to navigate roads is by canoe or boat. The water in the city has stagnated bringing concerns of waterborne diseases. The Oubangui River burst its banks mid-October, plunging large parts of Bangui underwater, causing seven deaths and 25 injuries
International aid has been requested to assist with emergency response efforts, as displaced people are becoming overcrowded in current sites.
