Hurricane Fiona moved north from the Caribbean and came ashore as a post-tropical cyclone hitting Atlantic Canada on 24 September. In the following days it continued north, damaging parts of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Quebec provinces.

Hundreds of thousands of people are without power after power lines were knocked down by extreme winds. Trees were up-rooted and many roads were blocked.

Due to the storm, heavy rainfall causing flooding to many areas. In coastal regions, waves completely washed away some houses. At least two reports have been reported.

Before reaching Canada, the storm also affected the Dominican Republic and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
