Flood in Nepal

Nepal experienced continuous rainfall on 30 June, submerging nearly 2,000 houses in Kailali district. Dozers were deployed to drain water that had accumulated in several areas.

In the Dhangadhi area, Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 13 were the worst affected. Residents are increasingly concerned that flooding in Dhangadhi is caused by inadequate drainage systems, exacerbated by the encroachment of streams and canals.

On 01 July, the Association for Civil Aviation Operations signed an agreement to mobilise private helicopters for rescue and relief efforts during the monsoon season. Some families have been rescued and moved to safer locations.

With rainfall easing by the afternoon, daily life is gradually returning to normal.
