Flood in Kyrgyzstan

A state of emergency was declared in Manas, Kyrgyzstan, at 04:00 on 25 May after severe mudflows and flash floods struck multiple regions, driven by unusually heavy rainfall.

More than 400 homes across several regions were affected. In Kara‑Suu district, mudflows flooded 56 basements, 23 yards, as well as a hospital and a school. In Osh, 313 homes were damaged, while 40 homes were affected in Manas. Multiple schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, and mosques also sustained damage. No fatalities have been reported, though at least 40 people were displaced in Manas.

Nearly 20 hectares of cropland were flooded, and livestock losses included sheep, cattle, and poultry. In one incident, 48 sheep were swept away.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) deployed hundreds of rescuers, along with motor pumps, excavators, and trucks, across the affected regions. The Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan distributed hygiene kits, mattresses, and blankets, and provided psychosocial support to affected families.
