Flood in India
On 05 August, heavy rainfall in the northern region surrounding the Kheer Ganga River triggered devastating flash floods in Dharali village, located in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, India.
Rising levels of the nearby Kheer Gadh River caused severe damage, as surrounding villages endured widespread destruction. Floodwaters surged through the area, impacting infrastructure, while muddy torrents swept through village streets, reducing buildings to rubble and forcing residents to scramble for safety. Distressing scenes unfolded: livestock washed away and panicked villagers fleeing to higher ground.
Authorities immediately launched response teams amid fears that people may be buried beneath debris from collapsed buildings. The focus remains on rescue operations, rehabilitation efforts, and minimizing further risks as the heavy rains continue.
