Flooding in Argentina
On March 7, 2025, the city of Bahía Blanca in Argentina experienced an unprecedented downpour that exceeded 400 millimeters (15.7 inches) within a few hours, amounting to one-third of the city's typical annual rainfall. At least 16 fatalities were confirmed, and more than 1,000 residents were forced to evacuate their homes.
The flooding caused extensive damage, including the destruction of bridges and the collapse of roads, which significantly hindered access. Additionally, large portions of the city were left without electricity.
Bahía Blanca, with a population of over 330,000, is an important port located in the southwestern part of Buenos Aires province.
