Flood in New Zealand
A moist subtropical low-pressure system is bringing a significant severe weather event across the upper North Island, particularly affecting Northland, Auckland, Waikato, the Coromandel Peninsula, and Bay of Plenty from 25–27 March.
Northland faces the highest risk, with up to two days of heavy rain, possible thunderstorms, and severe gale-force northeast winds, creating a strong likelihood of flooding, slips, and disruptions.
Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula are also at risk from heavy rain and damaging winds, while Waikato and Bay of Plenty may experience periods of heavy rain and strong winds depending on the system’s track. The overall impact remains somewhat uncertain, but the event has the potential to cause widespread disruption, especially in northern areas.
