Flood in Colombia
Colombia experienced widespread flooding following weeks of intense rainfall, with conditions linked to La Niña worsening the crisis. Floodwaters affected 31 of the country's 32 departments, displacing more than 50,000 families.
The Magdalena River basin and northern rural regions were among the hardest hit. Around 9,000 homes were destroyed, livestock losses were extensive, and landslides caused by the heavy rains claimed at least 14 lives.
Rescue efforts continued in affected areas, but submerged roads and unstable terrain hampered access to isolated communities, leaving some residents stranded for days. Authorities considered declaring a state of emergency in the worst-affected regions as humanitarian needs grew.
