Floods in Senegal

Extensive flooding followed torrential rains on 31 August 2005 in the city of Dakar, in particular in low-lying areas just south of the city. According to the Ministry of Health, some 60,000 people were displaced by the flooding. An emergency plan was put into effect by the Senegalese government.
