Floods in Algeria

The city of Ghardaïa (500 km south of Algiers, on the northern edge of the Sahara desert) and its surroundings have been stricken by severe floods on 1 October at around 05:00 UTC, leaving at least 33 people killed, 48 injured and 50 missing. Thousands of people were evacuated and most roads and means of communication are out of service.
