Flood in South Africa
South Africa was hit by a devastating storm system that caused severe flooding and unexpected snowfall, primarily affecting the Eastern Cape around Mthatha. Torrential rains made rivers overflow, washing away homes, vehicles, and a school bus, and resulting in at least 78 deaths, including several children.
At the same time, a powerful cold front brought heavy snow and icy conditions to parts of the Eastern Cape, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal, causing road closures and widespread power outages. Schools, clinics, and infrastructure were heavily damaged.
