Flood in Korea (Republic Of)

South Korea experienced its heaviest rainfall in 120 years due to unprecedented monsoon rains, which caused severe flooding and widespread devastation.

At least four people died, including victims trapped in vehicles swept away by floodwaters and crushed by collapsing walls. Over 1,000 residents in the South Chungcheong region were evacuated. Some areas received more than 400 millimetres of rain, with record hourly rainfall reported in places such as Seosan.

The flooding submerged roads and buildings, forced the closure of hundreds of schools, and caused significant property damage. Authorities issued the highest-level landslide alerts as soil saturation increased the risk of further disasters. The Korea Meteorological Administration warned that heavy rains would continue, raising concerns about flash floods and additional infrastructure damage.
