Flood in India
As of late July 2025, Himachal Pradesh faced severe monsoon-related disasters, with flash floods and landslides causing widespread damage across multiple districts.
Over 200 roads, including the Chandigarh–Manali highway, were blocked by landslides, and key infrastructure such as power transformers and water supply systems was heavily disrupted.
Mandi district was the worst affected, with 45 fatalities. The overall death toll reached approximately 170, including 94 deaths directly linked to weather-related incidents.
The India Meteorological Department issued orange alerts for Mandi, Kullu, and Kangra, and yellow alerts for Shimla, Chamba, and Sirmaur. Rainfall was expected to ease after the beginning of August. Relief operations by the NDRF and SDRF were ongoing.
